Monogrammed Magnetic Makeup Marquee

IMG_2362.jpgThis project uses an old cookie sheet, spray paint, and vinyl to create a decorative surface for displaying cosmetics! I made this because my makeup was starting to take up valuable counter space in the bathroom, but it also adds a personalized touch to the walls.IMG_2330.jpgPictured are the used a cookie sheet I bought at the thrift store for $1, a mesh pen holder from Target, and purple spray paint. If you buy a used cookie sheet, make sure it's magnetic before you purchase it! If you buy a new cookie sheet, look for one that is stainless steel (or another magnetic substance) and not aluminum.

The cookie sheet will be used for the cosmetics and the mesh pen holder will be used to hold the brushes/mascara. Both will be mounted to the wall using sticky-tack or a similar product.

Magnetic Push Pins

IMG_1933.JPGPush ping are usually used to pin notes to a cork board. it's aesthetic and organized, but a magnetic board is (in my opinion) more so, and it's safer for kids etc.
I, personally, like a clean and uniform design. I don't like a refrigerator full of weird magnets, but sometimes you gotta hang something on there (e.g. shopping list, a note for a roommate etc.), so i thought " i wish i could use something like push pins instead of all those food delivery magnets" and then it came to me - why not use push pins?
In this instructable i will show you how to make magnetic push pins to use on a refrigerator, steel door or magnetic board.

I hope you enjoy this simple, short and fun one.

IMG_1904.JPG1. push pins
2. neodymium magnets (a.k.a earth magnets) the same diameter as your push pins. (the same number as your push pins)
3. Epoxy glue
4. dremel with a diamond cutter or grinder bit
5. wire cutters

Dancing, Magnetic Robots

Make a pair of dancing robots using magnets!

While messing around with some magnets I purchased from Ebay I discovered something really cool.  If you put a small washer on a flat surface and move a magnet in a circle motion underneath the washer, it will spin one way and then another.

As soon as I saw this I just had to incorporate it into a project.  In the end I came up with robot dancers - the ideas a little left of centre but the end result looks great.  The robots really look like they are dancing and the cool thing is you can’t see any mechanisms moving them.

I chose a book to have the robots dancing on as I wanted it to seem that the robots were casually being displayed on top of the  book.  You could use a wooden box (or cardboard box) to hide the motor etc, but a book does the job pretty well.

Here's a video of the robots in action

And here’s how you do it…
