How To Make A Silhouette Portrait

My friend wanted me to make him a silhouette using a laser cutter. 
He wanted to give it to his father for fathers day. 
I had just a day to get the project done. 
My friend had sent me the file and I used Adobe Illustrator to get it ready for the laser. 

Materials list (I suggest you purchase this at Lowes)
4 - 1/4" 2'x3 Sheets of Oak Ply 
1 - Can of black spray paint. I used flat.
Wood glue

Hovercraft Everyone Can Build!

IMG_20130629_133830_0.jpgHovercrafts are a great little project for those looking for something a little unusual. This is made out of materials you would find lying round home plus a couple of cheap easy to get electronics if you don't already have them. This hovercraft is capable of going over water, ice, snow, short grass, concrete and other hard surfaces.

Materials Chilly bin lid (for base) Plastic bags. (for skirt) Tape Hot glue Balsa wood Your choice of electronics (two motors with speed controllers and propellers, servo for steering, receiver and transmitter, and battery) thin plastic or plywood ( for bottom of hovercraft that directs the air to the skirt and rudders) assorted pieces of wire for control rods. Tools Craft knife Scissors Hot glue gun Sorry the video has the writing in the middle, my silly video editor.
IMG_20130627_163911_0.jpgThe base is the lid of a polystyrene box that looked about the right size, it had a nice grove around the perimeter that i used to direct the air from inside the hovercraft, out into the surrounding skirt.
A thin layer of plastic was glued around the inside ridge so the air from the fan was directed though the groves cut out to the skirt, it also stopped water filling the skirt when the craft was moving forward.

To construct the Skirt plastic rubbish bags were cut out flat then into 150mm wide strips. Two half pieces of a pvc pipe with a 45 degree angle on the end were used as a template for cutting and taping the corners of the skirt together to get a clean shape, this isn't necessary but is useful. lastly a 20mm by 75mm hole was cut into the bottom plastic panel, this was to let air into the bottom of the hovercraft to make it hover, this could also be done by putting holes in the skirt, but i found this just as effective, and didn't make the skirt at risk to ripping.

bread recipe

This is honestly one of the most fool proof and tasty bread recipes I've ever come across. This recipe yields a really soft bread with a crunchy exterior. It's perfect for french toast and sanwiches, bread puddings and grilled cheeses. :D

This is also a great bread recipe for beginners - because we'll be weighing all the crucial ingredients, there's less chance of things going array.

line follow robot, no programming required

You will notice that the pictured robot is built to micro dimensions(it measures 45mm in diameter), but this isnt neccesary, and this instructable will explain how to build it according to the parts that you can get hold of. the line follow robot is a great first robotics project, giving you good idea of how to achieve autonomous behaviour using simple electronic components and some mild soldering skills.

parts needed include:

 an NPN transistor
a resistor (the value of which later be determined later)
batteries (between 6 to 12 volts depending on size of robot and motor requirements, I used two 3v button cells).
two motor and gearbox assemblies
a switch
a light dependent resistor (LDR)
and a suitable shell. (mine was the clear case from a toy, it measures 45mm in diameter).
a multimeter or ammeter

note: the picture does not include the transistor because at the time of taking the picture i was still in the process of designing and didnt think that the transistor was neccesary. also, only one resistor was needed.

You can eventually print an insect head / smile / other to put in front of the hexapod, to personalize it.

You need also the ELECTRONIC PARTS:
1x Arduino Mini or Arduino UNO (or compatible)
3x Microservo 9G
4x AA batteries (better if rechargable)

Then, if you want to make a light follower robot, you need:
2x LDR
2x 10K resistor

If you want to drive you robot using a nunchuk, you need:
1x nunchuk
1x nunchuk adapter (you can buy it or you can remove from an old / broken wiimote)
1x 10K resistor

If you want to drive you robot via bluetooth, you need:
1x HC-05 (or compatible) bluetooth module
1x 2K2 resistor
1x TS2950 33 (or compatible) voltage regulator
