Weotta Finds Activities Based on Your Location, Schedule, and Interests
Plenty of sites exist to find restaurants and activities, but generally speaking you get a list of options and sort through them. Weotta takes your current situation into account, as well as your interests, to find you the best thing to do when you want to do it.On top of information and events Weotta curates automatically in about 400 U.S. cities, you get more if you sign in via Facebook. Weotta will pay attention to what your friends do if they also use the app and make suggestions based on their interests, too. You can quickly provide tips about a place or event you liked, too, by quickly rating the activity. If you don't want suggestions, but rather want to find something specific, you can search from it and Weotta will provide you with options based on your query. For example, if you wanted a good restaurant near a concert open late, when the show is over, you can search for just that. Results never get limited to the big and obvious—smaller, lesser-known yet great activities and restaurants show up in your suggestions as well. Reward Boost Finds the Best Rewards Credit Cards Based on Your Spending
Rewards credit cards are a great way to earn hundreds of dollars back on everyday spending. However, with so many different cards available and spending categories, finding the right ones to use can be tricky. Enter Reward Boost.Simply enter the name of the cards you own—you don't have to provide login or account details—and your monthly spending by category and card to get a report of your annual rewards amount and percent back. Reward Boost will suggest alternative cards for you to consider if you want to maximize your cash back or rewards amount.The site, currently in beta, isn't perfect. For example, it didn't have my grandfathered Amex Blue Cash card, so the percentages are off, and it can't account for rotating card categories. Also, special rewards categories, like Amazon purchases with the Chase Amazon card, aren't available.Still, the webapp is useful for gauging if you're using the best cards for your spending. Spotify Discover Guides You to New Music Based on People You Follow
Web: Spotify's radio feature already tries to suggest bands and artists based on the ones you like, but Discover suggests new music to you based on the people you follow. Your recommendations will be packed with playlists, songs, and artists your friends enjoy that you may not have tried.Spotify has one of the web's biggest databases of streaming music, and while it's always had things like shared playlists and the ability to see what your friends are listening to, Discover is a more direct take on music discovery. It takes things a step further and tries to combine truly useful suggestions with playlists and artists that your friends have recently enjoyed. If you're worried that you'll get stuck with a bunch of suggestions you'll hate because you and your friends have different tastes in music, don't worry: Spotify says that the recommendations you'll see take a number of things into consideration, not just what your friends are listening to. To try Discover, head over to Spotify's web player—it's only available on the web right now (partially because it's supposed to replace Spotify's home page eventually) and will make its way to the desktop and mobile apps soon.
