Super cute birdhouse from used or broken tile

instructable birdhouse 006.JPGBirdhouses are not that difficult to make. However adding a touch of flare can be fun, creative and inexpensive.

This project utilized used( clean of grout) and mismatched tiles  as well as grout that were reclaimed from the Habitat For Humanity Store. Not only is it good for the environment that this material did not go to landfill, and I helped out a great organization fund housing projects for the less fortunate. Ideally, I would have preferred using reclaimed wood to make the birdhouse but time was not on my side. I opted for purchasing a cheap house from the dollar store. Future houses will be reclaimed.

Instruct birdhouse1.tifI would have liked to build my own bird house out of reclaimed wood but I ran out of time. When i had gone to The Habitat For Humanity store they did not have any wood that was thin enough for my purpose and I did not have time to return another day. So, I opted for buying a cheap house from the dollar store and modify it to be habitat friendly.

Upcycled Tshirt Market Bag (Easy and Super Low Sew!)

IMG_0485.PNGI have a pile of tees from various road races and have always said that I'll turn them into a tshirt quilt... but that may never happen, so I'm doing the next best thing and upcycling them into market bags to take to the farmer's market!
This is an easy project that's so low sew that you could even do it by hand if you wanted to (or maybe "have to" because you don't have a machine).

P.S. If you're like me and hate to waste anything, check out my dog toy tutorial to use up the scraps from this project ;-)

IMG_0249.JPGA tshirt (it doesn't need to be heavy duty thick cotton, but I wouldn't use a super light weight shirt)
Ruler
Pen
Scissors or rotary cutter
Cutting mat (optional but very helpful)

*Note: the size of the shirt will determine the size of the bag. If you only have a large shirt and want a smaller bag, then check out the alternate instructions on Steps 2 and 3.

Super Hero Cake Pops

Super Hero Cake Pops 13.jpg

What is it about Father's Day that makes finding the perfect gift such a challenge? This year instead of another patterned tie or pair of slippers, melt your super Dad's heart with these Super Hero Cake Pops made especially for him!

To make Super Hero Cake Pops you will need:
• Cake pops on sticks, made from your favorite cake pop recipe
• Blue candy melts
• Red soft eating liquorice or Fruit Roll Ups
• Red disco dust
• Meringue powder
• A small, food-safe paint brush
• A styrofoam block or cake pop standSuper Hero Cake Pops - sugarkissed.net 2.jpg

Start by cutting your Fruit Roll Ups or liquorice into the shapes of super hero capes and chest emblems. Fold the narrower edge of the cape upward so that it will attach to your cake pops. (If you are using liquorice, you will need to flatten the candy with a rolling pin before cutting your shapes.)
